創意  再生  綠工藝

臺灣工藝發展協會成立迄今已逾三十九年,恰與臺灣在這近幾十年間在工藝演進與發展也比肩同步相關密切,其間工藝發展活動和成果也逐漸累積成為向未來推動的力量,本次展出主題我們以[創意.再生.綠工藝]來點出我們展出目的與主張。

任何產業的興起與沒落,是自由經濟市場的選擇,也同時考驗產品在消費市場的受歡迎程度,面對考驗要就推陳出新,或行銷它的經久耐用,但增加競爭力即是加強研發能力更在思考「創意」的發揮;臺灣工藝以手工業起身逐漸擴展到傳統產業和工兿百工和個人的工作室,一樣要保持創意的思考不能墨守成規,一成不變去重複製作固定的産品。

隨著現代化的腳步,生産機具不停進步,量產速度增快、設計能力強化,也提高產品的品質和美感,於是各個國家皆以引進技術、創新而追求卓越為目標,我們應該思考產業的永續發展其實都是創意在引領發展的勢頭,而不祗有製作的過程而已。

以今年2021年東京奧運製作奬牌為例,除開獎牌的圖案丶顏色丶大小交由專家設計外,在製程上其金屬的材料選擇不再是去購原料去製作而是蒐集所有3C的廢棄物清理後的金屬去製作金丶銀丶銅牌的,既是廢棄物重新再利用的環保概念,更是在設計上美觀晶亮,得牌就是一種榮譽,與牌子是否是金無関,就工藝而論材美工巧,精緻美感就是一絕佳的工藝品;日本也同時作了專题報導。東奧德國體操隊的制服也極具創意的設計感,不同於各國的近乎單色的緊身衣,色彩搭配和曲線在動作時也更具觀賞性,我們希望的是創意上的用心絕對會使人一新耳目的。

「再生」是重複使用的意涵,是包含了環保的基本觀念,由於工業時代太強調大量生產,當過量生產時,多餘的產品就變成未用的廢棄物,工藝產品同樣要考慮量的控制,也就是說需要多少生產多少,不可過量更力求減量生產(reduce),不是遏止創作,可力求限量創作或客制化以求不要發生太多餘品,這都會增加環境中增量的廢棄物;其次是重複使用(reuse),可以重複使用的產品應以耐用丶節用為守則,以免留下過多不用的丶少用的物品,再生有重新利用廢棄物再製作有用產品(recycle),如東奧獎牌利用3C產品廢棄物中的金屬元素再予應用製作奬牌,這個概念是相對減少資源的浪費,相對增加節能省碳的環保工作。

以上提及的三R都是環保的基本原則,也是「再生」要實至名歸的運用在任何製造業的計劃和作為之中,來逐漸力行環保工兿即是「綠工藝」的實踐。少一分汚染即增一分潔淨 ,工藝產業應該強調產品的藝術發揮和生活實用的層面,作一個綠工藝的創作者。

「綠」的意涵是環保,很多的開發行為在破壞環境和自然,更多的製造業在增碳和廢棄物,特別是二次公害和各種汚染,工藝產業亦屬製造業的一環,會生產廢料和污染物,所以所有的工藝創作者包括生產工藝品的工廠都有責任以環保理念和方法從事這個「綠工藝」的產業,讓我們的生存環境不致惡化而產業能夠永續經營發展,作一個綠工藝永遠的支持者和維護者。

當今COVID-19新冠病毒肺炎疫情席捲全球,人民緊張恐慌、作息無法如常、經濟危機、長期抑鬱、社會不安定,亦造成人際疏離,加劇人我間之不信任感。工藝可結合身心,滿足人心靈成長,促成人與人,人與社會連結,以工藝的寬容、希望與平衡精神內涵,使個體獲得壓力的釋放緩解,促進內在與人我群體間的和諧。

 

Creativity, Regeneration, & Green Craft

It has been over 39 years since the establishment of the Taiwan Craft Development Association, which is closely related to the evolution and development of craftsmanship in Taiwan in the past few decades. During this time, craft development activities and achievements have gradually accumulated to become a driving force for the future. The theme of this exhibition is Creativity, Regeneration, & Green Craft, pointing out the purpose and proposition of our exhibition.

The rise and fall of any industry is the choice of the free economic market, and the popularity of the product is also tested in the consumer market. In the face of challenges, we need to introduce new ideas or market their durability. To increase competitiveness is to strengthen research and development capabilities, and we have to think about the use of creativity. Taiwanese crafts started as a handicraft industry and gradually expanded to traditional industries and individual studios. It is necessary to maintain creative thinking and not to stick to the rules or repeatedly producing fixed products.

With the pace of modernization, the production machinery has been continuously improved, speed of mass production speed has increased, design ability has been strengthened, and the quality and aesthetics of products have also been improved. Therefore, all countries are aiming at introducing technology, innovation, and pursuing improvement. We should understand that sustainable development of the industry is actually the momentum of creativity leading the development, not just the production process.

Take the 2021 Tokyo Olympic medals as an example. In addition to the medal pattern, color, size are designed by the experts, the choice of metal materials in the manufacturing process is no longer to buy raw materials, but to use waste cleaned metal to make gold, silver, and bronze medals. This is the environmental protection concept of waste reuse, and it is also beautiful and bright in design. Winning an award is an honor, and it has nothing to do with whether the metal is gold or not. As far as the craftsmanship is concerned, the materials are exquisite, and the beauty is an excellent handicraft. Japan also made a special report on the topic. The uniforms of the German team are also very creative. Different from the almost monochromatic tights of various countries, the color matching and curves are more ornamental during the movements. What we hope to have is a creative heart, which will make people feel refresh.

Regeneration means repeated usage, adhering to the basic concept of environmental protection. The industrial age puts too much emphasis on mass production. With overproduction, excess products become unused waste. Processing products also need to consider volume control, that is to say, how much production is needed, to avoid excessive production, and strive to reduce waste. This is not to curb creation, but to strive for limited creation or customization so as not to produce too many excess products, which will increase the incremental waste in the environment. The second is reuse. Products that can be reused should be durable and economical, so as not to leave too many unused and less-used items. Recycling refers to reusing waste to make useful products. For example, the Tokyo Olympic medals use metal elements in product waste to make the medals. The concept is to reduce the waste of resources and increase the energy-saving and carbon-saving environmental protection work.

The three Rs mentioned above are the basic principles of environmental protection, and regeneration should be properly used in any manufacturing plans and actions to gradually implement environmental protection, that is, the practice of green craft. Less pollution means more cleanliness. The craft industry should emphasize the artistic display of products and the practical aspects of life, and be a creator of green crafts.

The meaning of “green” is environmental protection. Many development projects are destroying the environment and nature. Manufacturing industries are increasing carbon and waste, especially secondary pollution and various kinds of contamination. The craft industry is also a part of the manufacturing industry that produces waste and pollutants. Therefore, all craft creators, including factories producing handicrafts, have the responsibility to engage in this Green Craft industry with environmental protection concepts and methods, so that our living environment will not deteriorate and the industry will be able to operate and develop sustainably. Be a permanent supporter and maintainer of Green Craft.

Today, as COVID-19 is sweeping the world, people are nervous, panicked, and cannot have regular routines; there are economic crises, long-term depressions, and instability in society. The pandemic has also caused interpersonal alienation and has aggravated the mistrust between people. Craft art can integrate the mind and body, satisfy the growth of people’s minds, and facilitate the connection between individuals. With tolerance, hope, and the balance of body and mind in craftsmanship, individuals can release and relieve stress, and promote their inner peace, as well as the harmony between the self and society.
